Stanleytown man dies after crashing into koker

A Stanleytown, West Bank Demerara (WBD) man died on Thursday after he lost control of his car and plunged into a koker on the Belle Vue Public Road, Canal #2 Polder, WBD.

Regional Commander, Mahendra Siwnarine, has confirmed that Shamlall Mohess, died in the accident which occurred at 10:00 hrs.

It is alleged that Mohess was speeding when he lost control of the vehicle, PAB 1939, and collided with a culvert; as a result, the car then toppled and ended up in the canal.

The car was submerged with the driver inside.  The vehicle was later pulled out of the trench by public-spirited citizens with the assistance of a motor lorry.

The driver was taken out of the vehicle in an unconscious state with injuries to his head and body.

He was taken to the West Demerara Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The man’s body is at the Eziekel Funeral Parlor awaiting a Post Mortem Examination.
