The body of former Deputy Mayor of Georgetown, Lionel Jaikaran was discovered in his Parade Street, Georgetown home on Friday morning.
The News Room understands that Jaikaran died sometime between Thursday night and Friday morning.
Reports are that the discovery was made around 08:00 hrs by his housekeeper when she showed up at his residence for work.
Jaikaran was found at the bottom of his stairway and the Police suspect that he may have fallen while making his way to the upper flat of the house.
Jaikaran served as the Deputy Mayor of Georgetown from 2016 until his resignation in 2018. He was also the former President of the Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC).

Rest in peace……..he was a good fellow and never quite fit in with the nonsense at City Hall. He always wanted to be known for making a difference for his City and his Country.
It is so sad to know how ,Mr Jaikaran met his demise. My sympathy goes out to his grieving relatives. That is the disadvantage of living alone. If someone else were at home with him at the time when he fell he would have received the necessary assistance and might have been alive today.
