Ranks of the Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU) on Friday arrested the owner of the Blue Iguana nightclub with some five ponds of cocaine in his possession.

According to a press release from CANU, officers conducted an operation at a property located at Festival City, North Ruimveldt, Georgetown, where they intercepted Royston Peniston, 44, with two hardcover suitcases in his possession.

“A subsequent search of the suitcases in the presence of the suspect revealed a quantity of whitish powdery substance suspected to be cocaine,” CANU noted.

Peniston of the said address was arrested and escorted to CANU Headquarters where a further search of both suitcases led to the discovery of two parcels suspected to also be cocaine.

The suspected narcotic, tested positive for cocaine and weighed approximately 5 lbs. (2.178kg) with a street value of GY$2.1 Million.

    Investigations are ongoing.
