The partially decomposed body of Zephyr Stanislaw, the security guard who accidentally slipped into the Demerara River on Wednesday morning while guarding a vessel, was recovered.
Police sources confirmed that the body of Stanislaw, a resident of Anna Catherina, West Coast Demerara, was found floating in the Demerara River, in the vicinity of the Pritipaul Wharf, Peter’s Hall, East Bank Demerara (EBD) around 14:20hrs Thursday.
At the time, he was clad in a uniform belonging to GEB security, where he worked.
There was a bruise to the forehead.
The body was removed and taken to the Memorial Garden funeral parlour where a post-mortem examination will be done on Monday.
The News Room reported that at around 04:00hrs Wednesday, Stanislaw was on main duties to guard inside the ‘Demerara’ vessel.
He was stationed at the Guyana Rubis Incorporated, located at Providence, EBD.
Another security guard from the said firm reportedly told the police that he saw Stanislaw climbing down the ladder from the ‘Demerara’ ship to board a marine boat.
During the process, the security guard said Stanislaw accidentally slipped and fell into the Demerara River.
Sources told the News Room that efforts to pull Stanislaw from the river were futile due to the rough tide.
