Carmel Secondary came just one short of matching the Region Seven unit, with an 8-0 thumping of Bygeval Secondary, led by Ian Daniel with five goals.

Daniel scored in the 16th, 17th, 37th, 39th and 60 while teammates Shem James (5th), Dwayne Baptiste (27th) and Marcy Layne (40th) supported the goal-fest.

More so, East Ruimveldt Secondary started the day with a comprehensive 5-0 victory over Marian Academy via goals from Trammel Jack (22nd, 60th), Kevon Garraway (40th), and Daniel Sutton (65th, 69th).

24 goals were scored in the first four matches

In the final match of the day, 2022 finalists, North Ruimveldt Secondary were defeated 0-2 by Patenia Secondary in the most mundane match of the day as Mickeal Vannoten (11th) and Isaiah Daniels (32nd) were the men at the back of the net.

The action on Sunday kicks off at 11:00h with Annandale Secondary against West Minister Secondary followed by Berbice Education Institute and Charlestown Secondary.

Chase Academic Foundation battle Dora Foundation then Ann’s Grove face Queen’s College.

The teams are split into eight groups of four, with the top two teams progressing to the round of 16.
