Two confirmed dead, several others injured as truck collides with minibus

Two persons are confirmed dead and several others are hospitalised with life-threatening injuries following an accident at Greenwich Park, East Bank Essequibo Monday morning.

The News Room was told that the deceased persons are the driver and a passenger of the minibus. Reports of a third death could not be immediately verified.

Regional Commander, Mahendra Siwnarine confirmed the two deaths but said police investigators were not conclusive in their reporting as the circumstances were still being investigated.

He said according to initial reports, the truck driver attempted to avoid colliding with a car and instead drove into the path of the minibus.

This was at about 10:00 hrs Monday morning in the vicinity of the Greenwich Park Primary School.
