Plaisance man nabbed with gun, ammo

A 29-year-old resident of Plaisance, East Coast Demerara (ECD), was on Thursday morning nabbed with a firearm and ammunition while riding his bicycle in the community.

Police Headquarters reported that officers were conducting a search exercise between 05:30 hrs and 07:00 hrs when the man was stopped and searched.

A Taurus semi-automatic .32 pistol and a magazine containing 12 matching rounds were found tucked in the waist of his pants.

As such, he was told of the allegation, cautioned and arrested; he was taken to the Sparendaam Police Station where the firearm and ammunition were lodged.
