Century Tamara Energy Services (CTES) and Jacobs Jewelry and Pawn Shop have fused their resources to sponsor the four championship gold rings for the Rawle Toney 3×3 Basketball Classic, held in partnership with the Guyana Basketball Federation.

Last year, Jacobs Jewelry was the lone sponsor for championship rings, however, with the growing popularity of the tournament, the organisers have gained more support through the Oil and Gas support company.

The tournament is slated for March 18-19 at the Burnham Basketball Court. The estimated value of the four rings are G$500,000.

Varshanie Rampersaud, Business Development Officer at CTES, expressed delight in partnering with the organisers, and noted it’s a positive step for the company to be investing in sport, given the ultimate aim to develop talent from the grassroot level.

According to Toney, corporate Guyana has played a key role in the development of the tournament since it started in 2019.

Going forward, the intention is to make it a national tournament, which can be used as a platform for Guyana to become a strong force in the 3×3 format within the Americas.

At least 16 teams, some from overseas, are set to participate in tournament which has a top purse of G$400,000.
