One dead, another injured following chopping incident at NA

A 22-year-old man is dead after he was chopped during a brawl on Sunday that stemmed from another chopping incident two days earlier.

Another person is injured and is currently hospitalised at the New Amsterdam Hospital.

Dead is Kevin Junior Small of Patrick Dam, Angoys Avenue. Small was found dead with chop wounds at a house in Budhan Scheme, Vryheid, West Canje, Berbice.

Regional Commander, Shivpersaud Bhaccus told reporters at the scene that preliminary investigations revealed that there was a fight among young men in the area.

The father of the dead man, Kevin Small, recalled that he was out selling and upon returning home, he got the news that his son was chopped.

The father, along with others, went in search of the younger Samll and found him injured and barely breathing at the house in Budhan Scheme.

Small usually hangs out at the house with a friend.

According to the father, he was told that there was a chopping incident two nights ago

“…and I hear he name calling in the chop up. Last night I was playing cards and three of the individuals come with cutlass. My son don’t lime there but dem come looking for other people dem seh name calling,” the father related.

The armed men left shortly after. The Police investigation is ongoing.
