The Lusignan Golf Club on Sunday hosted a club tournament that saw Miguel Yunes walking away with top honours. While the competition was fierce, Yunes dug deep and kept his competitors at bay.

Yunes and Andre Cummings both ended on 36 points, but Yunes was adjudged the winner by virtue of having a better score on the ‘back nine.’

The results for the tournament were as follows:

1st– Miguel Yunes (Handicap 15, Points 36)

2nd– Andre Cummings (Handicap 12, Points 36)

3rd– Brian Hackett (Handicap 19, Points 35)

Longest Drive– Miguel Yunes

Nearest-to-the-Pin– Patrick Prashad

According to Public Relations Officer of the club, Paton George, one grouping won all but one of the prizes in the Stableford tournament.

While Yunes and Cummings took top honours, Brian Hackett finished third and was the only prize getter outside the marquee group.

“It was a very successful golf tournament. A lot of the golfers stayed back at the club and enjoyed some of the other activities such as tennis, pools etc. It was a diverse group, including a lot of international players,” George said.

“Our first place winner is from Mexico, so it was a good turnout. The course is in excellent condition, the greens are fast and we had a wonderful time. Coming up next week we will have a sponsored tournament, so as time progresses we will release more details.”

George further explained that the sponsored tournament will carry the full weight as the points earned will go towards the entry to the Suriname Open and Guyana Open at the end of the year.

The PRO also shared that as time draws closer to the Easter weekend, the club will be hosting a children’s camp as they prepare give back.
