A total of 32 teams drawn from Georgetown, West Demerara, East Coast Demerara, Berbice and Linden will compete in the Kashif and Shanghai ‘One Guyana’ National Futsal Championship, set to kick off on April 9.
The competition, which will wrap up with the grand final on May 20 at the National Park Tarmac, will feature 32 teams placed in groups and playing in a round-robin format for over $2.5 million in cash and prizes.
Spectators also stand to benefit significantly, as six spanking new motorcycles will be up for grabs during the tournament, which is being held in partnership with the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport and a host of corporate partners.
The champion side will pocket G$1 million, second G$500,000, third G$200,000 and fourth G$100,000, while the Most Valuable Player will ride away with a motorcycle.
