Golden Jaguars Head Coach Jamaal Shabazz has announced a 23-man squad for the country’s crucial Concacaf Nations League games later this month.

The Senior National Men’s team is slated to play hosts Bermuda on March 25 and Montserrat in Barbados on March 28. Victory in both games would secure Guyana’s berth in the Concacaf Gold Cup.

Goalkeepers: Quillan Roberts, Akel Clarke and Kai McKenzie-Lyle

Defenders: Colin Nelson, Jeremy Garrett, Jaylen Jones, Bayli Spencer Adams, Marcus Wilson, Liam Gordon, Kadel Daniel, Samuel Cox and Johnny Grant.

Midfielders: Curtez Kelman, Daniel Wilson, Nathan Moriah Welch, Elliot Bonds and Leo Lovell.

Forwards: Emery Welshman, Omari Glasgow, Pernell Schultz, Trayon Bobb, Kelsey Benjamin and Tre Medford.

The players have been in training under Coach Shabazz and the technical team since early January at the National Training Centre at Providence, East Bank Demerara.

Pitted in Group B of League B, Golden Jaguars are second with six points, winning two and losing two of their four games. Haiti, with three wins and a drawn encounter, are top of the table on 10 points, with Bermuda and Montserrat at the bottom on four and three points respectively.

Guyana started the campaign with great promise, topping Montserrat 2-1 in the Dominican Republic, and Bermuda by the same scoreline in June 2022 at Leonora.

However, that was followed by two huge defeats to Haiti, 6-2 at Leonora and 6-0 in the Dominican Republic.

That has left Shabazz’s men with the uphill task of winning both games to move to the next stage of the competition.
