Speeding motorcyclist dies in accident at Friendship

A 42-year-old motorcyclist died on Friday morning after he allegedly collided with a truck while attempting to overtake a car along the Friendship, East Bank Demerara public road.

The dead man has been identified as Daniel Marshall of Albouystown, Georgetown.

Traffic Chief, Dennis Stephen confirmed that the accident occurred at around 06:50 hrs.

According to Stephen, investigations revealed that Marshall was speeding north along the western side of the public road on motorcycle CK 8657 when the accident occurred.

“When he attempted to overtake a motorcar, an unknown car, which was proceeding in the said location and, in so doing, he lost control of the cycle and collided with a motor lorry, GTT 345 which was proceeding in the opposite direction,” the Traffic Chief told the News Room.

As a result, Marshall was picked up in an unconscious condition and taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
