Akshaya Persaud sent a timely reminder to the national selectors with an unbeaten hundred and off-spinner Junior Sinclair took a six-wicket haul to highlight the opening day of the third and final round of the Guyana Cricket Board’s Senior Inter-County Four-Day competition on Sunday in Georgetown.
At the Georgetown Cricket Club ground, Bourda, the out-of-favour left-handed Persaud struck 110 not out to lead Demerara to a commanding first day score of 394-6 against Essequibo.
Raymond Perez (84), Ronaldo AliMohamed (63) and Sachin Singh (57) also made use of friendly batting conditions, as spinner Ricardo Adams took 4-106 for Essequibo.
Over at Everest, Sinclair took 6-37 as the Select XI were dismissed for 141. Berbice, in reply, were stuttering at 27-3 by stumps.
