A man is currently in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the New Amsterdam Hospital after he was injured during a fight at Rose Hall Town, Region Six Sunday night.

Hospitalised in a critical state is Naresh Ramangal, 28, a Cane Harvester of Williamsburg, Corentyne, Berbice. Marcus Morgan, 27, his friend, is also injured and underwent medical treatment at the Port Mourant Hospital. Police said the incident occurred at about 19:30 hrs. Ramangal and Morgan, who are friends, had an argument over a missing pig.

Ramangal became furious and he reportedly dealt Morgan a lash to his right side forehead, causing him to sustain an injury.

A scuffle ensued and a friend of Morgan, who was standing nearby, in a fit of rage, whipped out a knife from his waist and stabbed Ramangal to the right side abdomen, causing his organs to protrude.

Ramangal and Morgan were both taken to the Port Mourant Hospital but because of the severity of Ramangal’s injury, he was transferred to the New Amsterdam Hospital where he remains in a critical state.

The man who stabbed Ramangal has since been arrested.
