Businessman on bail for allegedly forging business registration

A 40-year-old businessman was on Wednesday released on $150,000 bail for allegedly forging a business registration certificate.

Andrew Hunte of Lance Gibbs Street, Queenstown, appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court and pleaded not guilty to the charge.

It is alleged that Hunte on July 6, 2021, in Georgetown, with intent to defraud, forged a certain document to wit a Business Registration Certificate purporting to show that same was issued by the Commercial Registry.

His attorney, Bernard DaSilva made an application for bail on the grounds that his client is the sole breadwinner for his two children.

The Magistrate released Hunte on $150,000 bail and adjourned the matter to April 5, 2023.
