The Central Islamic Organisation of Guyana (CIOG) says the moon to commence the holy month of Ramadan was sighted locally and regionally, paving the way for fasting to start on Thursday, March 23.
“The CIOG has accepted these reports and has declared the 1st night of Ramadan to be on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, and the first day of Ramadan will be on Thursday, March 23, 2023,” the CIOG noted in a press release.
Taraweeh prayers will commence on Wednesday evening.
