A 21-year-old waitress was on Wednesday released on $300,000 bail for fatally stabbing her reputed husband at their Fourth Street, Alberttown, Georgetown home.

Aaliyan Lewis, called Dacia, appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.

Lewis was not required to plead to the charge which alleged that she unlawfully killed 23-year-old Esan Hamilton on March 18, 2023.

The mother of three was represented by attorney-at-law, Darren Wade and others.

The Chief Magistrate released Lewis on $300,000 bail and adjourned the matter to April 13, 2023.  As a condition of her bail, Lewis will have to report to the Alberttown Police Station every Friday until the completion of the case.

Police Headquarters had reported that the murder occurred at around 06:30 hrs.

It is alleged that Hamilton was abusive toward Lewis, and they would often fight.

It is further alleged that on the day in question, an argument ensued after Hamilton reportedly slapped Lewis while she was asleep.

The woman became angry and in retaliation, she armed herself with a knife from the kitchen and stabbed Hamilton.

Subsequently, Hamilton exited the room with a stab wound to his left side, lower abdomen, and told an aunt who lives with them that Lewis stabbed him.

The aunt, reportedly, saw Lewis exit the room with a silver knife in her hand.

The aunt then alerted another family member, got a taxi and took Hamilton to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he died while receiving treatment.
