Brazilian man allegedly assaulted by cop at seawall, OPR investigating
The Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR) has launched an investigation into an incident at the Kingston seawall on Wednesday involving a Brazilian national and a Police rank.
A brief statement from Police Headquarters on Friday noted that Commissioner of Police (ag), Clifton Hicken gave the assurance that a “thorough” investigation will be conducted into the matter.
The Brazilian national has been identified as Wellington Dos Santos.
According to a Police report, Dos Santos was with his girlfriend and a group of friends hanging out at a spot on the Kingston seawall when an incident occurred between him and a Police rank, resulting in him being injured.
It is unclear what might have led to the incident.
