Draws for National U-19 Inter-Club tournament set for March 27

The National Under-19 Inter-Club tournament, organized by the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) and sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport, will have its fixtures drawn on March 27 across the counties as they gear up for a March 31 start.

According to a release from the GCB, the draws will commence at 14:00h.

In Demerara, they will occur on the top flat of the GCB’s Regent Street office.

For the West Berbice teams, it will be at the Hope Town Community Centre while the other sides will have their draw at the Berbice Cricket Board.

In Essequibo, activities will be held at the Essequibo Cricket Board Hostel in Anna Regina, Essequibo Coast.

GCB is advising that teams earmarked to participate in the Tournament are required to have their representative Managers, Coaches, and Captains attend.

In a bid to grow the pool of youth players who can ideally be developed into international stars, the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport has committed to supporting the GCB with three National Under-19 tournaments.

It will start at the inter-club level and then channel into the Inter-County where they would be the 50-Over and Three-Day formats.

Minister Charles Ramson Jr. viewed the age group as the cornerstone for cricket and talent development, and said this is a filter to the National Cricket Academy.

Approximately G$6 million has been pledged by the Ministry to the tournaments, and a commitment has been made for it to be done on an annual basis.kkkkk
