A 34-year-old businesswoman and her husband are in the intensive care unit of the Georgetown Public Hospital nursing multiple gunshot injuries after three gunmen opened fire on them on Thursday night.

Police Headquarters confirmed the shooting occurred at around 21:20 hrs at the couple’s ‘B’ Field, Sophia, Georgetown house.

While not naming the victims, the Police reported that the couple operates a grocery shop in front of the house with their two children; the husband is also a minibus driver.

The husband told the Police that he observed when an unknown black-tinted car stopped in front of the shop and three men, all armed with handguns and faces covered with masks, exited.

The husband received two gunshot injuries to his upper back, while his wife received gunshot injuries to the right side face, two to her right arm, and one to her left elbow.

The man rushed his wife to the hospital. Police recovered four 9MM spent shells and a suspected warhead at the scene.

As the investigation continues, Police said they are currently reviewing CCTV footage that was extracted from the shop.
