    Both the male and female teams representing Guyana at the ongoing Senior Caribbean Table Tennis Championships at the National Gymnasium, Mandela Avenue, are through to the semi-finals.

    The men’s team, comprising  Shemar Britton, Elishaba Johnson, Paul David and Jonathan Van Lange, produced a major upset by beating regional powerhouse Dominican Republic 3-2 to book a match with Puerto Rico.

    Likewise, the women’s team of Olympian Chelsea Edghill, Natalie Cummings, Thuraia Thomas and Jasmin Billingy, won the final group match against  Barbados 3- 0.

    Cummings and Billingy took the doubles then Chelsea Edghill won the first single 3-0 and Cummings closed off with a commanding 3-0 win.

    Both teams are assured of a bronze medal at the championships which concluded on Saturday evening.
