Left-arm spinner Ashmead Nedd and experienced all-rounder Christopher Barnwell were the main protagonists in leading Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) to a resounding innings and 193-run victory over Everest Cricket Club in the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA) First-Division tournament at the weekend.

Held at the DCC ground, the hosts batted first and posted 381-9 declared from 79 overs, led by Barnwell with a belligerent 114 from 61 balls. The right-hander struck 13 maximums and three fours.

Former national youth player, Dexter George, made 47 while there were other starts from Nikosi Beaton (45), Raymond Perez (38), Ricardo Percival (34) and Brandon Jaikaran (33).

Nedd then opened the bowling with his left-arm spin, bagging 8-33 from 15 overs as Everest were bundled out for 80 in 29 overs.

Barnwell (1-9) and Beaton (1-20) were the other men in the wickets, as Anthony Sanichar (22), Niran Bissu (12) and Chandrapaul Hemraj (11) were the main scorers for Everest.

Asked to follow-on, Everest folded for 108 in 26.1 overs with Ushardeva Balgobin top-scoring with 64 (9x4s; 3x4s) from 44 balls.

Nedd again was the main destroyer with 8-38 from 13 overs, while Percival got 2-20 from 3.1 overs.
