Construction worker remanded to prison for killing Canje man

Trevor Rajmangal, a construction worker of West Canfield, East Canje Berbice, on Monday appeared via Zoom before Magistrate Sherdel Isaac- Marcus to answer to the charge of murder.

The charge read that between March 18-19, 2023 he murdered Mohamed Imran Ali.

He was not required to plea to the indictable charge and was remanded to prison until April 21, 2023. Rajmangal was represented by Attorney-at-law Chandra Sohan.

Imran Ali called “Mice” was found dead on the parapet in front an old house at Bissessar Street, West Canefield, East Canje Berbice on Sunday 19th March 2023.

His sister, Fazila Ali, had told Police that she had last seen her brother on Saturday, March 18, 2023 at approximately 20:00 hrs. The following day, at around 06:00 hrs, she was informed by a neighbour that her brother was sleeping at the corner of the road.

When she checked, he was not moving and appeared to be dead.

The Police were contacted and when they arrived he was seen lying with his face downwards. He was clad in a long blue pants and a black jersey on his shoulder. Blood was seen oozing from his right eyes.

A post-mortem examination gave his cause of death as shock with cerebral haemorrhage due to a fractured skull.

Rajmangal was subsequently arrested.
