Shop owner, three others arrested as cops probe death of Mabaruma man

Police in Region One (Barima-Waini) are investigating the death of a resident of Mabaruma, who succumbed on Tuesday, hours after he was involved in an incident at a shop in the village.

Dead is Aaron Conyers, a father of four of White Water, Mabaruma.

Police Commander, Himnauth Sawh confirmed that an investigation has been launched into the incident which took place at Black Water Landing.

The News Room understands that Conyers was at a shop when an argument reportedly ensued between him and the owner of the business; he was allegedly beaten about his body.

Conyers subsequently returned home where he started to bleed from his nose. He was rushed to the Mabaruma Hospital where succumbed while receiving medical attention.

Sawh told the News Room on Wednesday that the Police cannot determine at this point whether Conyers’ death is as a result of the beating.

He said they are awaiting the result of an autopsy, which is scheduled to be conducted on Thursday to determine how Conyers met his demise.
