The Guyana Under-19 Boys team, comprising Jonathan Van Lange, Krystian Sahadeo, Colin Wong, and Umar Percival, had to settle for silver at the ongoing Junior Caribbean Table Tennis Championship at the National Gymnasium, Mandela Avenue.

Despite a spirited effort from Van Lange, Guyana lost the final on Wednesday afternoon to the formidable Dominican Republic 0-3.

Van Lange took the talented Ramon Villa to a five-set match, but lost 2-3 in a seesaw contest.

The added silver lining is that they qualified for the Junior Pan American Games.

Additionally, the Under-15 Boys and Girls got bronze, while the Under-19 Girls finished fourth.

Both of the Under-15 teams finished behind the Dominican Republic and Trinidad and Tobago while the Under-19 Girls were edged to a medal position by the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, and Trinidad and Tobago.

The competition, which now moves into the Singles and Doubles categories, will conclude on April 2.
