Bartica vendor nabbed with marijuana, meth

A 35-year-old vendor of Bartica was on Friday taken into custody after he was allegedly found to be in possession of 26 grammes of cannabis and eight grammes of methamphetamine.

Police Headquarters on Saturday said Linden Benjamin from Second Avenue, Bartica was arrested by ranks of Region Seven during a stop and search exercise which was conducted between 20:00 hrs and 21:30 hrs.

According to the Police, Benjamin was among a number of persons were searched during the exercise.

The drugs were found in a haversack Benjamin had in his possession.

“Benjamin and the haversack were searched, and Police found 16 transparent zip-lock packs of leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis and 25 transparent zip-lock packs of what is suspected to be methamphetamine,” Police Headquarters said on Saturday.

Benjamin was arrested and escorted to the Bartica Police Station.

According to the Police, Benjamin was told of the offence, cautioned and admitted.

He is being processed for court.
