Police have arrested a 21-year-old businessman from Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown after he was found with an illegal firearm and a quantity of ammunition.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Police Headquarters said a party of Police ranks were conducting duties at a road block in the vicinity of Triumph, East Coast Demerara when they stopped the motorcar – PXX 2117.
A search was conducted on the heavily tinted motorcar as well as the occupants during when a suspected .40 Glock pistol with four suspected .40 rounds of ammunition was allegedly found in the pants crotch of the businessman, who was a passenger of the car.
Police said the businessman was told of the offence, cautioned and escorted to the Beterverwagting Police Station, East Coast Demerara.
Investigation is ongoing.
