Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan on Wednesday released two Tucville, Georgetown residents on $20,000 bail for robbing a man.

Neville Dundas, a 29-year-old construction worker, and Earl Grant, a 19-year-old mason, appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court and pleaded not guilty to the robbery charge.

It is alleged that on April 4, at Tucville Terrace, the duo robbed Joseph Inniss of a leather pouch, two cell phones, and cash valued at $415,000.

According to the facts, the victim’s wife was involved in an accident with Dundas and Grant, who were riding a motorcycle.

They decided to settle the matter themselves, and the victim’s wife called Inniss to come to the scene.

However, when Inniss arrived, he was attacked by the two men and robbed of his belongings.

The men escaped on foot and jumped over a nearby fence. However, Dundas cut his hand on the fence and dropped the loot during his escape.

The matter was subsequently reported to the police and both men were arrested. Police recovered the pouch at the scene.

The State prosecutor objected to the release of the accused on bail due to the severity and prevalence of the crime.

However, the Chief Magistrate granted bail on the condition that the duo report to the Criminal Investigation Department Headquarters every Friday.

The case was adjourned until April 26.
