The joint organising team of the Rupununi Rodeo 2023, the Rupununi Livestock Producers Association (RLPA) and the Rodeo Committee, is thanking the Government of Guyana and corporate sponsors for their overwhelming support.
The Rupununi Ranchers Rodeo held annually at Tabatinga, Region Nine is set for April 8th and 9th, 2023 and promises to attract the largest turnout in the last decade with accommodation in Lethem and surrounding communities completely booked out.
Rodeo has evolved to become an important annual event on the national calendar attracting both local and foreign tourists alike.
Acting as a major economic boost for the region it highlights the unique lifestyle of the residents through rodeo competitions, music and other festivities.
This year’s sponsorship was focused on revamping and developing the event ground so that the animals, vaqueros, and visitors would be much more comfortable.
Sponsorship Manager, Maria Munroe, indicated that although the cost for the infrastructural work was exceptionally high, the government and corporate Guyana still gave their support.
Through the Greater Guyana Initiative (GGI), the Ministries of Tourism and Amerindian Affairs, contributed one million dollars, respectively.
Corporate giant Demerara Distillers Limited, under its El Dorado Rum brand, partnered with the organising committee as a Gold Sponsor along with long-standing partner, DIGICEL.
Silver sponsors included the Ministry of Natural Resources and first-timer Frontier Pharmacy with Frontier Pharmacy pledging support in writing for the next three years.
BRONZE sponsors are Superbet, Banks DIH, GTT and Team Mohamed’s.
14 main events have been sponsored by businesses from Lethem and Georgetown, namely Trans Guyana, the Guyana Bank for Trade and Industry (GBTI) and Republic Bank.
