Whitney Welcome called ‘Don King’ appeared at the Bartica Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Crystal Lambert on Tuesday charged with the possession of a firearm and six live matching ammunition without a license.
The 32-year-old pleaded not guilty to both charges and was released on $400,000 bail; he is slated to re-appear in court on May 16, 2023.
Welcome was arrested on April 7 by Police in Region Seven who intercepted the vehicle he was driving at First Street Bartica.
According to the Police, Welcome drove away and headed to Mongrippa Hill, Bartica, where he sought refuge in the office of a 30-year-old businessman, with the ranks in pursuit. The ranks caught up with him inside the businessman’s office.
“When questioned, the businessman related to the ranks that Whitney Welcome ran into his office and put a firearm under his counter,” the Police report noted.
According to the report, one of the ranks searched and found a black 9MM Pistol containing six live matching rounds of ammunition.
