A businessman is calling for more security at the Kitty seawall in Georgetown after thieves broke into his establishment for the second time in just months, and carted off with electronics and high-end alcoholic beverages amounting to millions of dollars.

Andre Morgan, the proprietor of ‘C View Hangout Bar’, said the thieves ransacked the place, drank some of the beverages and then carted off with the alcohol and a cell phone.

Morgan told the News Room that he and his staff secured the caravan on Monday night; on Tuesday at around 20:00 hrs, he discovered that it was broken into.

“We had a problem with the generator Easter night, so last night (Tuesday), I decided to come and take it away so we could bring another one and I walk around and found the eastern side of the building was open,” Morgan said.

But this was not the first break in; he said thieves broke into the place just days before Mashramani and this caused him to close shop. He re-opened the chill spot on Saturday last just in time to get sales during Easter.

And according to Morgan, the remodeled structure and new supplies cost him millions of dollars which he will now have to replace.

He explained that during the first break-in, beverages, a television set, and other items in excess of $1 million were lost.

“We had to replenish that, do back the place, and then you come and open Saturday that gone there and somebody tried again?” the frustrated man said.

Morgan said there is no security but a camera was which uses Wi-Fi was set up at the establishment. Unfortunately, the new phone which he recently purchased and which was used to share data to the camera, was also among the items stolen on Tuesday.

Last week, Jasmin Johnson, another business owner at the seawall suffered a similar fate after thieves broke into her business establishment. This was the third time thieves broke in.

According to Morgan, this is becoming a regular occurrence in the area, which is also poorly lit.

“The lights are on and off and when it’s off, these things happen.

“Certain times [at night] they would come and rob persons just like that. This is what we are facing, this is tough,” Morgan said.

The businessman is hopeful that the Police can conduct more patrols in the area.
