A 43-year-old businessman is in serious condition at the Georgetown Public Hospital nursing wounds about his body after he was chopped by his associate following an argument at Quartzstone Backdam, Cuyuni River, Region Seven on Thursday.

Injured is Dwayne Ward of Wismar, Linden; Police are on the hunt for the suspect known as ‘Country’ or ‘Brother’.

Police Headquarters in a press release on Thursday noted that the two men worked as business partners in the Quartzstone Backdam.

However, due to a misunderstanding, their arrangement was severed.

The Police said Ward claimed that he was in the vicinity of Linda’s shop when the suspect called out to him but he ignored his call and continued walking.

“The suspect then approached him (Ward) from behind and dealt him two chops with a cutlass. One connected to the left of his face leaving a gaping wound and the other to his left middle finger,” Police Headquarters explained.

Ward was transported to the Bartica Regional Hospital where he was admitted but subsequently transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital for further treatment. His condition is listed as serious.

A team of ranks from Region Seven has been dispatched to the scene as the investigation continues.
