Lusignan man stabbed to death, suspect arrested

A 28-year-old man was stabbed to death during a confrontation on Monday at Lusignan, East Coast Demerara (ECD) and the Police have arrested his attacker.

Dead is Abdool Javid Razack of Lot 72 JP Latchman Singh Housing Scheme, Lusignan,.

The incident occurred around 11:15hrs at Latchman Singh Housing Scheme.

The suspect, who has been arrested is Karamchan Mukutnauth called “Bogas” or “Ravi”, 37, a carpenter, of no fixed place of abode. He fled the scene but was subsequently arrested.

According to information reaching the News Room, a 40-year-old businessman alleged that he was on the balcony of his property when he noticed Razack and the suspect talking on the roadway.

The man claimed that the suspect was brandishing a knife which he allegedly used to stab Razack to his chest.

As a result, Razack collapsed to the ground. However, he managed to get up and chase after the suspect, who ran away.

Razack eventually collapsed again. He was picked up and taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Sources told the News Room that the suspect told detectives that Razack slapped him and in retaliation, he inflicted the deadly wound.

He also claimed that the suspect’s uncle dealt him several lashes about his body.. He was taken to the Buxton Health Center where he was treated and sent away.

Police recovered the suspected murder weapon, a kitchen knife, at the scene.
