Rampant Guyana beat Dominica 10-0 in CONCACAF Women’s U20

The junior Lady Jags are on a roll at the ongoing CONCACAF Women’s Under-20 Championship with another massive victory at the Felix Sanchez Stadium in the Dominican Republic on Monday.

Guyana hammered Dominica 10-0, after beating Suriname 6-0 on Saturday, and will now face the host in their final group match on Wednesday from 18:00h.

The winner of each group will advance to the May 2023 Concacaf Women’s Under-20 Championship in the Dominican Republic, joining top-ranked teams, United States of America and Mexico.

The rout was set up by six remarkable goals from Se-Hanna Mars, two from Jalade Trim, and one each from Heike Clarke and Glendy Lewis.

It was forward Trim who struck quickly after the starting whistle, scoring the first goal just five minutes into the game, followed by Mars’ thrilling five goals in the 14th, 16th, 19th, 31st and 37th minutes.

Defender Clarke made the seventh goal at the 48th-minute mark while  Mars scored her sixth goal in the 66th.

Lewis in the 78th minute and Trim finished the game by scoring in the 92nd minute.

Guyana Football Federation President, Wayne Forde, congratulated the team and coaching staff on a solid win and noted that the players showed discipline throughout the game.

“I would like to join the rest of Guyana in congratulating our girls and the Coaching staff for yet another solid performance. The team remained disciplined throughout the game and worked really hard to amass as many goals as possible.

We have made tremendous progress over the past seven years in female football development, and we will continue to invest heavily in more leagues and competitions at all levels”, the GFF President conveyed.
