The Guyana Olympic Association (GOA) recently established “three very important Committees” at its first convened Council Meeting.

The newly-elected Executive Committee, led by Godfrey Munroe, established the Finance Committee, the inaugural Disciplinary Committee and an Appeals Board.

“The Executive Committee wishes the respective Committees the very best during their tenure as the members all work together in the best interest of sport in Guyana,” the GOA said in a press release.

Below is the full release issued by the GOA

The Executive Committee of the Guyana Olympic Association is pleased to announce that since it was elected into office, the first order of business was to address its constitutional obligations.

In this regard, Secretary-General of the GOA Mrs. Vidushi Persaud-McKinnon indicated that three very important Committees were established according to due process and noted that the new Executive Committee is committed to ensuring that the Constitution is followed and adhered to.

Nominations were received at the first convened Council Meeting and the following positions were unanimously agreed upon by the Council:

    1. Pursuant to Article 23 of the GOA’s Constitution, a Finance Committee needed to be established. The Meeting unanimously agreed and ratified that the members of this Committee are: Garfield Wiltshire, Michael Singh, Godfrey Munroe, Steve Ninvalle and Emelia Ramdhani.
    1. Pursuant to Article 24, the meeting discussed the process in establishing the Inaugural Disciplinary Committee. The Meeting unanimously ratified the nominations put forth and thereby declared members of this Committee as: Cristy Campbell, Sharon Small, Lennox Braithwaite, Ayanna Watson and Dwayne Scott.
    1. Pursuant to Article 25, the meeting discussed the process in establishing an Appeals Board. The Meeting unanimously ratified the nominations put forth. It was thereafter declared that members of this Committee are: Vidushi Persaud-McKinnon, Nigel Niles, Keavon Bess, Capt. John Flores, Latoya Herbert, Franklin Wilson and Lorraine Ince.

The Executive Committee wishes the respective Committees the very best during their tenure as the members all work together in the best interest of sport in Guyana.
