The body of 36-year-old Telisha Domandeo of Crabwood Creek, Corentyne was found with a wound to the neck by Police ranks in Berbice, Region Six on Friday morning.
Wrapped in a blanket, the body lay motionless in a clump of bushes at Betsy Ground, East Canje, Berbice.
The discovery comes exactly one week after the Police were informed that the woman was abducted from her mother’s residence on April 14, 2023.
The News Room understands that Domandeo had left her Crabwood Creek home days earlier to spend some time there.
Sunil Durga, 50, with whom Domandeo shared a relationship that bore a child, is now wanted by the Police for questioning in relation to the woman’s death.
A Police statement noted that ranks went to Betsy Ground at about 07:00 hrs on Friday based on information received when they found Domandeo lying motionless.
She was clad in a blue T-shirt and multi-coloured trousers. The body was examined and a gaping wound was found on her neck which appeared to be almost severed.
According to the Police, they ventured further up the Canje River, some three miles from where the body was found, and a mattress and pillow with blood stains were discovered.
The Police statement noted that on April 14, Domandeo’s relatives reported to the Blairmont Police Station that she was abducted. Durga was listed a suspect.
Checks were made for both of them prior to the discovery of her body on Friday.
