DJ dead, girlfriend injured in Friendship crash

A 25-year-old disc jockey (DJ) succumbed on Monday while his girlfriend remains hospitalised after the car in which they were in crashed into a concrete culvert at Friendship, East Bank Demerara (EBD) on Sunday.

Dead is Shawn Lee, popularly known as ‘DJ Gaza Prince’, of Timehri Base Road, EBD.

The injured woman has been identified as Kimberly Agard, 23, also of Timehri, EBD.

Police Headquarters on Monday confirmed that an investigation is ongoing into the accident which occurred around 15:20hrs Sunday.

Lee sustained a fractured leg and injuries to his head. He was admitted to the Intensive Care unit (ICU) of the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) where he succumbed around 08:15hrs Monday.

According to the Police, Lee, who was the driver of motor car, PTT 1796, was speeding when the vehicle crashed into the culvert and flipped before ending up in a nearby trench.

Lee and Agard were pulled out of the submerged vehicle by public spirited persons and rushed to the Diamond Hospital; they were later transferred to the GPHC.

Agard, who also received injuries to her head, is in a stable condition in hospital.
