The partially decomposed body of 71-year-old Albert Callender, a pensioner of Norton Street, Wortmanville, Georgetown, was found in his house on Sunday.

Police Headquarters reported that officers from the Alberttown Police Station visited the man’s house at about 16:00 hrs after receiving a call from his neighbour who resides in the upper flat of the building.

The neighbour, who was not identified by Police, claimed that she last saw Callendar alive on April 19. At that time, he did not complain of feeling unwell.

She did not see him again after that but on April 22 (Saturday), the neighbour said a pungent smell was emanating from the Callendar’s apartment. As such, she decided to call the Police.

Firefighters from the fire station in Alberttown opened the door to the apartment and found the man’s body lying face-up on a bed, in a partially decomposed state. No foul play is suspected.

The body was later taken to the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home awaiting a post-mortem examination and investigations continue.
