Venezuelan who stuffed mouth with 21 tiny packs of cocaine arrested

A Venezuelan national who stuffed his mouth with 21 tiny packs of cocaine was arrested late Saturday night at the Takutu International Bridge in Lethem and is expected to be charged on Monday, Police headquarters has reported.

The man has been identified as 30-year-old Eleo Geveiro. The cocaine he was nabbed with weighed 11.4 grammes.

Geveiro was arrested at around 22:30 hrs on Saturday by Joint Services ranks who were on duty at the Takutu Bridge. Geveiro worked as a handyman and resided at Tabatinga, Central Rupununi.

The Police did not say if he was coming or going to Brazil.

“Geveiro’s mouth was observed to be stuffed, and he was asked to open his mouth. When he did, he spat out 21 small black plastic parcels (all tied). When opened, each of the small parcels contained a whitish substance suspected to be cocaine,” Police Headquarters stated.

Geveiro was arrested and locked up at the Lethem Police station.
