Guyana Harpy Eagles opening batsman Matthew Nandu has been called up to play in the ongoing Headley-Weekes Tri-Series.

Nandu, a former West Indies Under-19 batsman, made his First-Class debut during the recently concluded West Indies Four-Day Championship, finishing with 273 runs from five matches, including a century on debut against Barbados in the opening round.

He will suit up for Team Headley.

Nandu is now the ninth Guyanese to be called up for the Tri-Series, the others being Kevlon Anderson, Ashmead Nedd, Tagenarine Chanderpaul, Gudakesh Motie, Kevin Sinclair, Veerasammy Permaul, Nial Smith and Tevin Imlach.

In the opening round of the Headley-Weekes Tri-Series, West Indies Academy defeated Team Headley by seven wickets. In round two, starting on Wednesday, Team Weekes will take on West Indies Academy, while the final round, starting on May 3, will see Team Weekes playing Team Headley.

The Tri-Series features the top performers of the recently concluded Four-Day Championship, as well as the brightest young talents.

All three First-Class matches are being played at the Coolidge Cricket Ground in Antigua.
