Police in Georgetown are probing the death of a 49-year-old man whose naked body was found in a room of the Quamina Guest House, located on Quamina Street.

Dead is Omar Ally of ‘B’ Field Pattensen, Greater Georgetown; Police Headquarters in a press release noted that Ally checked into the hotel with a “female who is suspected to be a male” on Friday, April 28, at around 14:00hrs.

The receptionist told investigators that at about 14:15 hrs, the identifiable person rushed out of the room and told her that Ally had fallen and hit his head on the tile by the toilet area.

As such, she accompanied the identifiable person to the room, where she checked the toilet area and saw Ally lying naked on the floor with blood oozing behind his head.

“She then told the identifiable person that he had to wait until they called an ambulance. She left him in the room and returned to the Reception area, where she contacted her supervisor, who then contacted the Guyana Fire Service ambulance, which arrived shortly after and the body was examined.

“The identifiable person made good his escape by jumping out the southeastern bedroom window within public view in a western direction along Quamina Street,” the Police reported noted.

Ally was pronounced dead by Doctor Durga of the Georgetown Public Hospital.

Several persons were questioned, and CCTV cameras were seen and extracted, according to the Police.

The body was taken to the Memorial Gardens Funeral Parlour for storage, awaiting a post-mortem examination.

“Checks were made for the ‘person’, but he was not located. Further investigations are ongoing,” the report concluded.
