Regal extended their dominance as the premeir softball team by winning both the Masters and Legends titles at the recent Speaker’s T20 Cup.

The tournament was organised by the Everest Cricket Club in observance of the 70th anniversary of Guyana’s Parliament.

It was a thrilling end to the Masters (Over-40s) category as Regal defeated Ariel by one run while in the Legends (Over 50) they steamrolled Vapes Guyana by 68 runs.

Regal Masters posted 142-8 from their allotted 20 overs and it seemed below par but a combination of tight bowling and good field made it too high a mountain for Ariel to climb.

Prashad Mahadeo scored 38 while Patrick Rooplall got 27 and Rawle Reid was the pick of the bowlers for Ariel with 3-30 from four overs.

Reid returned to stroke an attractive 39 with support from Danraj Singh (22).

Lakeram Roopnarine captured 3-30 off four overs while Roy Persaud had 2-26 from his full quota,

Earlier, Regal Legends racked up 181-7 and Vapes hardly challenged with just 113-7 in response.

Rudolph Baker led Regal’s charge with 53 while Wayne Jones made 26 and Eric Thomas chipped in with 25.

Jai Ram (2-24) and Mahadeo Chunilall (2-50) did the bulk of the damage for Vapes.

Jones was dynamic with the ball, taking 4-24 from four overs as only Seeraj Bhimsain put up any sort of resistance with 22.

The winning teams received $250,000 each with $100,000 apiece for Ariel Masters and Vapes Guyana.
