A 26-year-old motorcyclist lost his life on Thursday morning after he was allegedly involved in an accident with a truck along the Success Public Road, East Coast Demerara (ECD).

Dead is Keyon Marshall, a father of three and a porter attached to the MMC Security Service and of Republic Park, Beterverwagting, ECD.

Reports are that the accident occurred around 08:50hrs while Marshall was heading home.

The driver of the truck (GAD 2985) was identified as Mark Bagot, a 42-year-old Mechanic of Better Hope, East Coast Demerara.

According to the Police, Bagot claimed that he exited the compound of NABI Construction Incorporated and as he turned onto the public road, the truck encountered a mechanical problem causing it to cut off.

The truck driver further claimed that he put on the hazard lights and exited the vehicle to go into the company’s compound to get another truck to tow him.

However, before he could do so, Marshall, who was on a motorcycle (CK 6014) and another motorcyclist were speeding down the road when Marshall rode into the truck. The Police said he was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
