Ricky Singh, a 35-year-old fisherman of Skeldon, East Berbice, was arrested on Friday after he was allegedly found with 6.4 grams of cocaine.
Police Headquarters reported that the discovery was made around 18:20 hrs during a stop and search exercise at Back Street, Charity, Essequibo Coast.
According to a Police report, ranks of Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam) were on mobile patrol when they observed Singh acting in a suspicious manner; he was walking with a bag on his back.
Police said the ranks stopped Singh and informed him that they wanted to carry out a search on his possession and he agreed.
“Whilst conducting the search, the ranks found a plastic bag containing 25 pieces of creamish rocklike substance suspected to be Cocaine. A further search was conducted and in his left-side trousers pocket two smoking pipes used as smoking utensils were found,” Police reported.
Singh was cautioned and he reportedly told the ranks “I just buy it from someone.”
He was taken to the Charity Police Station, where the suspected cocaine was weighed; he is being processed for court.
