Visiting Guyanese, 32, dies after crashing into culvert at Versailles

The Guyana Police Force has launched an investigation into an incident that claimed the life of a visiting Guyanese on Sunday at Versailles Public Road, West Bank Demerara.

Dead is 32-year-old Krishnadat Lochan, whose local address is Goed Fortuin, W.B.D.

He resided in the United States of America and was visiting Guyana.

According to the police release on Tuesday, Lochan while driving along the public road, lost control of motorcar PVV 2319, which then collided with a culvert.

The accident occurred at about 22:30 hrs; two other male occupants were in the car.

The vehicle was proceeding in a southern direction when Lochan reportedly lost control of it and collided with a culvert located on the western side of the road.

As a result, the motorcar toppled and landed in the trench on the western side of the road.

Subsequently, the driver and the two other occupants were pulled out of the submerged vehicle by public-spirited persons.

Lochan was unconscious with visible injuries to his body; he was taken to the West Demerara Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The man’s body is currently at the Eziekel Funeral Parlor awaiting a post-mortem examination.

The investigation is ongoing.
