Quacy Steven Wright was on Sunday taken into custody following the discovery of 560 grams of marijuana, which was hidden in a bucket.

Police Headquarters on Monday said ranks on duty at the 70KM Police checkpoint, Region Seven, stopped motor lorry GLL 1703, which was driven by a 27-year-old resident of Itaballi Landing.

The truck was occupied by Wright and four other persons.

According to the Police, a search was conducted on the occupants and their belongings, but nothing illegal was found.

A further search was conducted on a five-gallon bucket, which was hidden in the truck’s tray during which one red plastic bag with leaves, seeds and stems, suspected to be cannabis was found.

The truck driver and occupants were questioned and the Police said Wright claimed ownership of the cannabis by replying: “Officer, I buy the weed from a pusher man at Timehri”.

The cannabis was weighed in the suspect’s presence and amounted to 560 grams.

Wright was arrested and placed into custody. He is likely to be charged soon.
