The KFC Elite League commenced on Sunday evening at the Police Sports Club Ground, Eve Leary, with two matches.

Western Tigers defeated Milerock 10-0 in the opening contest, and then Guyana Police Force FC topped defending champions Fruta Conquerors 2-0.

Daniel Wilson scored a hat-trick for Western Tigers

A Daniel Wilson’s hat-trick (3rd, 50th and 83rd minutes) led one of the title favourites Western Tigers to a rollicking start as the Elite League returned for the first time since May 2019.

The national player led his side’s charge, sending an ominous warning to be one of the favoured sides to win the title along with the Guyana Defence Force and the Guyana Police Force.

At the half, the Tigers were already up 4-0 and it was even more carnage inflicted in the second upon the Region 10 outfit.

Jorell Tyrrell (33rd and 58th), Hubert Pedro (31st), Andrew Murray Jr. (44th), Malachi Grannum (71st), Trayon Bobb (80th) and Jermain Beckles (90+2) also made their mark in the rout.

For Fruta Conquerors, it was not the ideal start as their youthful squad went down to Police 2-0. They certainly had chances to score, but fluffed them early in the proceedings.

Nicholas McArthur, a product of Conquerors, was the man scoring against them with goals in the 28th and 83rd minutes.

KFC Elite League games continue on Tuesday evening at the Police ground with Victoria Kings playing Santos from 19:00h and Guyana Defence Force battling Ann’s Grove from 21:00h.
