Linden caregiver found guilty of molesting girl jailed for 8 years

A 20-year-old caregiver has been sentenced to serve eight years behind bars for sexually molesting a girl.

Gabriella Allen, called “Gabby,” of Wismar, Linden was sentenced by Justice Priya Sewnarine Beharry at the Demerara Sexual Offences Court.

In February, a 12-member jury found Allen guilty of the offence of rape of a child under 16, contrary to Section 10 (3) of the Sexual Offences Act.

Following an allegation of rape made against Allen, she was arrested on August 15, 2021, leading to the initiation of a Police investigation.

Prior to being taken into custody, Allen held a position at a daycare centre.

It is reported that the child was left in Allen’s care when she molested her.

According to the victim’s mother, she has noticed a significant change in her daughter’s behavior since the incident.

As a result, she has chosen to entrust her daughter’s care only to her own mother, as she finds it difficult to trust anyone else with her child’s well-being.

The Probation Officer informed the court that Allen has persistently maintained her innocence and said that she was deliberately framed or “set up.”
