An 84-year-old woman was killed Tuesday afternoon after she was crushed to death by a garbage truck on the Buxton sideline dam, East Coast Demerara (ECD).
The dead woman has been identified as Elaine Williams of Buxton.
Reports are that the accident occurred sometime after noon, a short distance from Williams’ home.
The News Room understands that Williams, who sold brooms, was returning home when tragedy struck.
At the time, the garbage truck was collecting garbage in the area when it reportedly reversed into the woman.
The driver of the truck is currently in custody assisting with the investigations.
